SAUXEMESNIL - 19TH CENTURY Anthropomorphic pitcher known as the “Marquis.” Red clay with a honey-colored glaze. Caricature of an 18th-century soldier wearing a shako and sideburns. The tubular arms are set well apart from the body; the buttons and epaulets are made of pastillage. Holds a cup in his right hand, with his left hand resting on his stomach. Height: 25 cm Restorations to the hands. Provenance: Private collection in Normandy, Cotentin
