Copper commemorative medal marking the end of the Crimean War sculpted by Jean-François- Antoine BOVY (1795–1877), featuring a left-profile portrait of Napoleon III on the obverse and an allegorical scene of peace on the reverse, depicting five women in front of the Tuileries Palace and the Chamber of Deputies, bearing the inscriptions: "PEACE OF PARIS, MARCH 30, 1856. // COUNT WALEWSKI / PRESIDENT OF THE CONGRESS. " In front of the pedestal bearing the coat of arms of Paris and flanked by imperial eagles, on the left, Fertility rings the bell of peace with her right hand. Behind her, Pallas, wearing a helmet, rests her hand on the shoulder of Peace, who brandishes an olive branch in one hand and points to the treaty with the other. To her right, Justice, her hand resting on a mighty sword, stands beside War, who wears a lion’s head and is signing the treaty inscribed with the word “Europe” with a quill. On the right, weapons burn in the fire, while on the left, one can see an abundance of fruit and the symbols of the arts, industry, and science, as well as the Masonic symbol of the beehive.
