ITALY, Venice – late 18th century Architecturally shaped cabinet in cream-lacquered, finely gilded molded wood on a blue and red repainted background. The slightly curved front features a central pivoting niche adorned with cherubs surmounted by a carved and gilded wooden shell, housing a late 17th-century carved and polychrome-painted wooden sculpture of a Saint Priest. The twelve drawers, arranged in three rows, feature an "arte povera" decoration of architectural landscapes, animated ruins, and winged animals. H: 65.5 cm W: 71.5 cm D: 25 cm Signs of age, restorations, and minor losses. Matching: Rectangular console table in molded, carved, and re-gilded wood, decorated with a band of stylized palm leaves and foliage on the base, with four curved legs. Early 18th century.
