Chofa-shaped ornamental figure
wood, old brown patina, age mark
Height Height : 103 cm
Note: In Thailand, chofa are architectural elements placed at the end of the roofs of Buddhist temples and sacred buildings. Their slender shape, often interpreted as a mythical bird's head, marks the building's elevation to the realm of the deities.
This ornamental figure, in its reduced format, is reminiscent of a chofa and is in keeping with this spirit. It evokes those ridge elements associated with the symbolic protection of the building and the affirmation of its sacred character.
