André Aleth MASSON (1919–2009) - Lot 253
André Aleth MASSON (1919–2009) Free-form coffee set made of unglazed terracotta, consisting of a coffee pot and four cups, with openwork handles. Signed with a triskelion beneath the base, along with the number "36." Certificate of authenticity by Denise MASSON dated February 25, 2022 Note: Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes and Paris, André-Aleth Masson devoted himself to ceramics after World War II, developing a distinctive body of work centered on material, volume, and color. His meeting with André Borderie in 1953 marked the beginning of a close collaboration, particularly within the Mur Vivant movement. Beginning in the 1960s, Masson expanded his practice to include painting, sculpture, and printmaking, using an abstract language characterized by organic forms. A leading figure in the revival of French decorative arts, he distinguished himself through an experimental approach to materials, at the intersection of ceramics, sculpture, and architecture.
