Attributed to Adriano BRAMBILLA (1829–1885). - Lot 657
Attributed to Adriano BRAMBILLA (1829–1885). An exceptional, dynamically shaped console table decorated in the so-called “Humbertian” style, made of blackened molded wood, ebony, and wood veneer. The centered top, depicting Apollo’s Chariot, features a rich decoration of rosettes and geometric motifs in mother-of-pearl and bone inlay set within alternating panels outlined by light-colored wood fillets. The eight freestanding, crook-shaped legs echo the alternating bone inlay pattern and terminate in two stepped bases supported by ball feet. Northern Italy, 19th century. Height: 76 cm Width: 134 cm Depth: 79 cm Bibliography Enrico Colle, Il mobile dell’Ottocento in Italia. Arredi e decorazioni d’interni dal 1815 al 1900, Milan, Electa, 2007.—Works by the artist referenced and similar designs.
