ITALY, Venice—18th century. Pair of Nubian torchbearers carved from wood, gilded, and polychromely painted. The leaf-motif headpiece is lacquered green with a patina and features a white opaline glass pineapple at its center, serving as a reflector. The assembly was added in the early 20th century. Height: 65 cm Restorations, minor wear, and later converted into lamps.
