BARGIMI, Chad - Lot 360
BARGIMI, Chad A standing fertility doll with powerfully stylized geometric forms, the head topped with a flat headdress. Wood with an aged brown patina. Signs of wear and age. Height: 32 cm Length: 13 cm Note: Bagirmi dolls represent a relatively rare form of sculpture from Chad. Their highly stylized design transforms the female body into an architecture of geometric volumes. Associated with fertility, they were often given as dolls to young girls.
