Set of three settlers
Set of three settlers: a cyclist dressed in European costume, a seated figure with his hands on his thighs, and a rider on his mount.
Wood, localized polychromy, erosion and missing parts.
Height 23.5 to 34 cm.
This group features stylized colonial figures, highly prized in twentieth-century Malagasy folk art. Their direct, sometimes naive treatment reflects a desire to appropriate the visual codes of the period.
Broken rider glued back together
