BAMILÉKÉ - Cameroon. - Lot 240
BAMILÉKÉ - Cameroon. Bird in full flight with beautiful, stylized and aerodynamic aerodynamic forms. Wood with a shiny brown patina, old marks marks. Height Height : 14 cm. Length: 78.5 cm Provenance: former Galerie d'Art Africain, Paris, 1984-1994. Bamileke zoomorphic sculptures are often associated with symbols of power and spiritual protection. The bird, a recurring figure in their art, is linked to celestial forces and communication with the ancestors. Its pure, dynamic aesthetic reflects the refinement of Bamileke statuary and the importance of nature in their symbolic universe.
