As early as 1916, Van Cleef & Arpels developed the Touch Wood line of talismanic jewelry made of wood or wood derivatives (fibrite, ebonite), sometimes combined with platinum and precious stones. Bracelets, rings and wedding bands are designed in the superstitious spirit of "touching wood".
