Jacob OCHTERVELT (1634-1682) Granida and Daifilo Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. H. 80.9 cm x W. 99.3 cm This painting is featured in Susan Kuretsky's book. Acquired in February 2019 at an auction in Valencia, this work had previously been offered at Versailles around 1980 as a work of the XVIIᵉ century, without certain attribution. Subsequently rediscovered by the Galerie Marcus in Paris, who found its signature, it remained in private collection for a long time before its reappearance in 2019. After its acquisition, the work was confirmed as authentic by a specialist restorer, then examined by the Turquin cabinet and by Sotheby's experts, who recognized its importance in Ochtervelt's corpus. The painting corresponds to the Granida and Daifilo, identified as one of the Flemish master's earliest works.
