MOBA, Togo Very old anthropomorphic figure with refined, highly stylized features, ending in a hemispherical head Wood with weathering, remains of brown patina H. 72 cm These Moba sculptures, deliberately reduced to the essentials, express an ancestral strength through the abstraction of their forms. Their natural erosion reinforces their sacred character, as these figures are traditionally partially buried in the earth and exposed to the elements in family shrines.
