Bernard GOVIN (born 1940), - Lot 267
Bernard GOVIN (born 1940), Model "Asmara", or "Les vagues", the model created around 1968. Rare modular bench and sofa set composed of six foam elements upholstered in orange fabric. LIGNE ROSET edition. Dimensions: - H. 38 x W. 78 cm (convex) - H. 54 x W. 77 cm (concave) - H. 55 x W. 76 cm (backrest) Note: A discreet but visionary figure in French design, Bernard Govin (b. 1940) left his mark on the 60s and 70s with his fluid, organic creations. Trained at Duperré and the Institut d'esthétique industrielle, he opened his own agency in 1963, exploring the potential of new materials at an early stage. With Asmara (1966), his famous floor-level chair published by Ligne Roset, he redefined the relationship between body and furniture in an aesthetic both radical and sensual. In 1972, he repeated the experiment with Dunes, again for Roset. At the crossroads of design and interior architecture, his work continues to seduce with its formal freedom and intact modernity.
