VADIM ANDROUSOV (1895-1975) - POSSIBLE COLLABORATION WITH ANDRÉ ARBUS (1903-1969) OR RAYMOND PARGAMIN (1915-2010) OR (SCHOOL OF) "Les Sirènes Exceptional neoclassical salon furniture composed of a suite of four armchairs in ash and ash veneer. The front legs are of the Gaine type; the patinated bronze receptions are each formed by a truncated cone ending in a sphere and surmounted by a cut-out collar evoking an inverted crown. The deeply recessed, curvilinear arm brackets each receive a caryatid mermaid figure in patinated bronze. The armrests, bent at the back and with upholstered cuffs, end in a finely sculpted scroll. The Sabre-type rear legs extend into the uprights of the sloping, slightly overturned and framed backrests. The connecting dice form a slightly raised profile. Seats, backrests and armrests (re)upholstered. Circa 1940. Each caryatid mermaid signed ANDROUSOV on its base. Height: 97 cm - Length: 67 cm - Depth: 67 cm Used condition, tapestry not original. Provenance: From a set of furniture acquired by M. Gabriel Brugidou (1914-1997), founder of the Trilana hosiery company in Caudéran (Gironde), grandfather of the current owner.
