Charles-Edouard JEANNERET dit Le CORBUSIER (1887- 1965), Pierre JEANNERET (1896-1967) and Charlotte PERRIAND (1903-1999) Model LC4, created in 1928 Chromed metal tubular frame chaise longue resting on a black lacquered metal base, with black leather seat and headrest. Vintage CASSINA editions, stamped LC4 and numbered "22332" on the base. Height Height : 78 cm Width : 62 cm Depth : 155 cm Note: The LC4 chaise longue (1928) embodies the essence of modernist design: streamlined form, functionality and optimum comfort. Designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, it revolutionized furniture by placing the body at the center of design. Its chromed steel tubular structure reflects the industrial influence of the Bauhaus movement. Adjustable, it perfectly follows the curve of the body. Published by Cassina, it remains a timeless symbol of the twentieth-century avant-garde. History: Nicknamed the "resting machine", the chaise longue was first unveiled in 1928 at the Villa Church in Ville-d'Avray, a residence designed by Le Corbusier. The presentation inaugurated a new approach to furniture, conceived as a rational extension of the body in domestic space.
