Hubert ROBERT (Paris, 1733- Idem, 1808) - Lot 483
Hubert ROBERT (Paris, 1733- Idem, 1808) Study of a Roman temple in the Forum. Pen and brown ink wash on white paper. Circa 1763. Height 19.7 cm. Width : 27 cm. Provenance: - Paris, Melissa Ulfrane collection This work will be included in the catalog raisonné of Hubert Robert's drawings by Madame Sarah Catala. Note: Unpublished study from one of the notebooks Hubert Robert drew in Rome, following his walks and inspirations. The dimensions are close to those preserved in the Morgan Library in New York and, like them, must date between 1760 and 1763. This witty sketch was probably part of lot no. 353 of his posthumous sale of 50 notebooks and dummy albums.
