FON, Benin Fetish featuring a swaddled figure accompanied by several symbolic ornaments. Wood with thick projection patina, remains of indigo and white pigments, wrought iron, horse skull, cords, old padlocks and various materials. Dimensions: Height 50 cm, Width 22 cm This fetish embodies a spiritual entity central to the vodou practices of the Fon people of Benin. The swaddled figure, accompanied by padlocks, cords and a horse skull, symbolizes protection, justice or ritual ties. Projections and pigments testify to the libations and offerings made to activate its power.
