This fetish embodies a spiritual entity central to the vodou practices of the Fon people of Benin. The swaddled figure, accompanied by padlocks, cords and a horse skull, symbolizes protection, justice or ritual ties.
Projections and pigments testify to the libations and offerings made to activate its power. Placed in shrines, it served as a mediator between invisible forces and the community, reflecting the importance of these objects in maintaining spiritual balance.
