Rare pair of two silver hasteners (hallmark: Minerve), the grip handle with repoussé and chased decoration of a deer head in a neo-Gothic surround. Master goldsmith. Pierre QUEILLE. 1836-1847. Note: These hasteners are part of the neo-Gothic fashion of the 1840's, a fashion due in particular to Princess Marie d'Orléans, who commissioned a set of neo-Gothic salon furniture for the Tuileries Palace.
