FROM THE ANTIQUE - Lot 406
FROM THE ANTIQUE Cupid carrying a dolphin on his back Bronze subject with brown patina resting on a circular molded base. 19th century Height Height : 27 cm Oxidation from use. Note: This bronze is based on an Antique model of a fountain discovered in Pompeii in 1880 and now preserved in the Naples archaeological museum. It was probably made by the famous Neapolitan foundry Chiurrazzi, whose 1910 catalog lists a Love with Dolphin of a similar size to our bronze.
