Roland BRICE (1911-1989) in Biot - Lot 245
Roland BRICE (1911-1989) in Biot Free-form enameled ceramic service with abstract red, yellow and green decoration on a white background, including : - Coffee pot (height: 16 cm) - Milk jug (height: 12 cm) - Bowl (height: 5 cm; diameter: 11 cm) - Six cups and saucers (height: 4.5 cm) Circa 1950 Chips. Note: Roland BRICE is known to have been Fernand Léger's ceramist, but it is less usual to link the artist to his personal work beyond this major artistic cooperation. Roland Brice first worked with the Norman master, studying ceramic bas-reliefs designed for mural art. For five years in Biot, this collaboration and complicity around kilns led to the production of significant works. His inventive contributions and technical refinements responded to Léger's desire to color and enliven the proportions of walls.
