Attributed to Robert BYNG (1666-1720), - Lot 213
Attributed to Robert BYNG (1666-1720), Portrait of a young man with an African page. Oil on canvas. Early 18th century. Height 125 cm. Width : 101 cm. Beautiful 18th-century molded, carved and gilded wood frame. Faded. We find the clothes and posture of our young aristocrat in a portrait painted by Byng in the years 1715-1720, the iconography of the black page is also found in his work and notably in the painting "Carpenter, Lord Craven's Hunter", held by a Negro Page (1701), where the younger black page in a livery also of blue color holds the horse's bridle. This signed and dated painting by Robert Byng was sold by Sotheby's on 10/27/2010.
