Jérôme FESTY (born 1950) - Lot 12
Jérôme FESTY (born 1950) Dancing rabbits Bronze - Ed. 3/8 20 x 10 x 10 cm Note: Born in London in 1950, Jérôme Festy divides his time between Paris, the Alps and his many travels. His artistic research is based on an ongoing dialogue between pastel and sculpture, two modes of expression that he claims as equal and mutually nourishing. Since 1984, he has been exhibiting his work in France and abroad, where he has made a name for himself, notably in Japan and the United States. He lives and works in Vincennes. Jérôme Festy's bestiary is astonishing. Free from the yoke of naturalism, his animal sculptures, like so many poetic acts and metaphors, reflect the artist's free, tender and curious view of the world. The matte sheen of aluminum curves and the sheen of bronze patinas - dark, green, brown - remind us that the sculptor is also a pastelist, and that light and color are inherent to his language. In his latest works on paper, he chooses to work in ink, and his landscapes come closer to Asian purity, where from plane to horizon line, from banks to shores, the frontier of abstraction is often crossed.
