QADJARE PERIOD, Iran Pair of gold damascened steel torches. 19th century Height Height: 19 cm One tap cracked. Worn gilding, otherwise well preserved. These two steel damask candlesticks form a pair featuring a gold damascened decoration of interlaced arabesques on the wide flared base, and floral motifs on the shaft. The shaft is composed of a central part forming a circular bell, whose rim is adorned with an openwork frieze, topped by a baluster element and then by a tubular neck with a flat lip, damascened with a frieze of foliage.
