ROMAN TIME, Mediterranean basin - Lot 22
ROMAN TIME, Mediterranean basin
Vial with globular body resting on a circular foot, topped by a long neck ending in straight open lips
Blown, gilded and iridescent glass
Marks of time
Dimensions: H. 20.5 cm
Provenance :
Professor Kenneth Graham Collection
Vials of this type were often used to contain precious oils, perfumes or ointments, playing a role in daily life and rituals. The natural iridescence, due to the weathering of the glass over the centuries, adds a unique aesthetic dimension to this object.
