GREAT GREECE, IVᵉ century B.C. - Lot 14
GREAT GREECE, IVᵉ century B.C. Oenochoe with trefoil beak decorated with a female head in profile Earthenware with red and black glazed decoration, with traces of limestone concretions H. 11.5 cm Provenance: Collection of Professor Kenneth Graham This miniature oenochoe reflects a votive or decorative use. These small vases were often placed in sanctuaries as offerings to deities. The decoration, combining finesse and mythological inspiration, illustrates the refinement of ceramics produced in Magna Graecia in the IVᵉ century B.C., bearing witness to the religious and aesthetic traditions of the period.
