The Daunians, who settled in Puglia in southern Italy, are renowned for their ceramics decorated with symbolic motifs. These decorations reflect a clear Greek influence, marking a transition from geometric ornamentation to more figurative motifs.
Askos were mainly used to contain and pour liquids, probably as part of rituals or in everyday life. Their design and decoration testify to the skill of Daunian craftsmen and the importance of these objects in the cultural practices of the period.
