The Egyptian New Kingdom marked a period of imperial grandeur and artistic refinement. Alabaster, a translucent, lightly veined stone, was particularly prized for ritual objects such as lamps, vases and ointment containers.
This lamp, with its slender shape and raised ring, reflects the elegance and technical mastery of Egyptian craftsmen. Used in temples or tombs, they played a role in rituals designed to honor the gods or accompany the deceased into the afterlife.
This type of object testifies to the importance of light in Egyptian spirituality, where it was perceived as a divine manifestation and a guide to the world of the gods.
