MATHIEU MATÉGOT (1910-2001) - A complete interior entirely d - Lot 324
MATHIEU MATÉGOT (1910-2001) - A complete interior entirely decorated and arranged by the artist "Compositions - Stained glass windows created for the staircase leading to the attic of Dr. Claoué's duplex apartment, Paris, 1961". Reunion of 4 stained-glass panels, each composed of colored glass cabochons cut with a chisel and cast in blackened concrete. Provenance: Succession Claoué, Paris. Provenance and history: Succession Claoué, Paris. In 1956, Mathieu Matégot decorated Dr. Claoué's clinic with furniture made, in part, of lacquered or perforated metal. The set already included a large desk with a black leather-covered base with saddle-stitching, a large clear glass slab top and very large stained-glass windows on the clinic's second floor, which are still in place today. In 1961, five years after building his clinic, Dr. Claoué naturally commissioned the decorator to arrange and decorate the attic rooms above his Paris apartment. These stained-glass windows decorated the apartment's interior stairwell, bridging the gap between the classical decoration of the lower part of the apartment and the decoration designed by the artist in 1961. Please note These stained-glass windows are sold by designation and will be removed by prior appointment in Paris (XVIème) - The dismantling of the windows will be the responsibility of the purchaser, who may be charged for any damage inflicted on the building. It will be necessary to coordinate the removal appointment with the arrival of a glazier to re-insulate the apartment from the outside (the glazier's invoice will be charged to the vendor).
