Bathers at sunset.
Oil on canvas.

H. 38 x W. 46 cm
Born in Poitiers in 1876, he studied with Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He then took on the famous painter Armand Guillaumin as his master.
More modest and less ambitious than his classmates Othon Friesz, Marquet and Dufy, whom he had met at the Bonnat studio, he preferred Guillaumin's classical impressionism. Henri Pailler is best known for his landscapes of the Creuse region.
