Original and important MAHAL Northwest Persia Heriz region Late 19th century Dimensions : 536 x 396 cm Wool velvet on cotton foundation Natural oxidation, Wear Brick field with original animal decoration and stylized garlands of flowers and foliage adorned with a very large beige-gilded polylobed central medallion with original composition decoration of fine bracelet-shaped cords terminated with diamond-shaped ivory reserves and stylized floral bulbs inlaid with polychrome stylized birds and animals. Beautifully balanced form ' by two symmetrically stylized golden-beige crenellated pedestals. Four borders, the main one midnight blue with interlacing of fine old pink branches surrounded by semis of palmettes and stylized multicolored flower bulbs.
