LEDURE bronzier in PARIS. Important and rare clock in richly chased and gilded bronze and red marble base depicting Demosthenes haranguing the senate of Athens. The base is adorned with a historiated gilt bronze bas-relief depicting Demosthenes repelling Macedonian soldiers under the protection of Zeus. The enamelled dial with Roman numerals is signed by LEDURE bronzier and THOMAS Horloger and is set in a large octagonal stele containing the movement. Wire movement and beveled glass dial. Small chips to the dial enamel. Empire period.
