Broken Duchesse in molded beech and gray relacquer. The curved crosspieces rest on curved legs decorated with spandrels. Backrest is curved. One leg slightly shortened and small graft at the waist. Based on the rue de Cléry, he produced seating in both Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. He received a number of prestigious commissions, including seats for Queen Marie-Antoinette's box at the Versailles theater. A strong character, he is said to have had a number of run-ins with carpenters with whom he may have collaborated, such as Delanois and Boulard.
